The Pratt Film Society seeks to enrich the community by exploring various aspects of film and filmmaking while promoting interdisciplinary dialogue at Pratt through the art of film. The Society hosts free, weekly screenings, which include documentaries, fiction features, historical and contemporary releases, films by and about artists, and a forum for discussing all things film-related. To encourage an exchange of ideas, program notes are distributed at all screenings and where appropriate, filmmakers are invited for question and answer. The Society promotes local talent by screening works by students, staff and faculty.
Structure
The Pratt Film Society is an institute-wide body initiated in Fall 2005 and sponsored by the Academic Senate at Pratt Institute. Films are chosen by the Executive Committee based on suggestions solicited from Pratt faculty, students, and staff.
