David Walczyk, FT faculty

David Walczyk, Assistant Professor, SILS
Dr. Walczyk received his Doctor of Education in Communication and Education from Columbia University with an emphasis in media ecology and interaction design. Within SILS, David teaches People-Centered Methods and Design, Information Architecture and Interaction Design, and Educational Technologies.

David is the current SILS faculty senator, a Faculty Trustee on the Student Affairs Committee, and a member of the Pratt Senate Faculty Development Fund Committee. He is also a member of other institute and SILS initiatives.

Interdisciplinary and pragmatic by nature, with Director-level higher education administrative experience, David will continue to channel the needs of SILS faculty to the larger institute, seek to establish interdisciplinary relationships with other Pratt schools, and work to ensure that Pratt Manhattan faculty receive equal consideration in faculty-related initiatives and resource distribution.

Ellen Loughran, PT faculty

Ellen Loughran, Visiting Assistant Professor, SILS
I received a MLS from Pratt School of Library Science in 1969. Although I read broadly in professional literature, my primary interest is in library services and literature for young people. After a career of thirty-one years in the Brooklyn Public Library, which included work in the central library and branches followed by extensive administrative experience, I now serve the students of Pratt SILS through courses in Literature and Literacy for Children, Literature and Literacy for Young Adults and Programs and Services for Youth. I enjoy collegial work and would benefit from opportunities to interact with senators from other Pratt disciplines in the priorities and policies of Pratt Institute. This contact would enable me to promote the considerations and concerns of SILS students and faculty, while developing a broader perception of the Pratt Institute as a whole.
