What is Assessment?
Assessment is an ongoing process of inquiry whose goal is improvement. As shown in the diagram below, it involves getting answers to the following questions:

What are we trying to accomplish?
What would tell us how well we are doing?
How well are we actually doing? How do we know?
How do we use the information to improve?

Overview of the Assessment Process

I.MISSION/GOALS What are we trying to accomplish?	II. PLAN/STRATEGY How do we plan to get there?	III. MEASURES/CRITERIA What would tell us how well we are doing? What do we consider acceptable level of success?

IV. IMPLEMENTATION How do we use the information to make improvements?		IV. ASSESSMENT & RESULTS To what extent are we actually accomplishing our goals? How do we know?
